Since 1947, our Deep Sea Pilots have been extensively used by captains, officers and shipping companies navigating the busy routes of the English Channel, the North Sea, and the Skagerrak. Deep Sea Pilots

The busy shipping routes that transport global trade to and from Europe's main ports converge at the entrance of the English Channel. This traffic is channeled through the Strait of Dover from both the north and the south. The narrow passage between France and the United Kingdom sees up to 500 ship movements daily. The dense traffic at the southern entrance of the North Sea, combined with numerous days of bad weather and dense fog, make this one of the most complex navigation areas in the world. Crossing ferries and further offshore activities in the North Sea introduce greater risks, necessitating constant vigilance. The use of Deep Sea Pilots ensures a safer passage through these waters.

Training and Certification

All our Deep Sea Pilots are trained and certified in accordance with IMO resolution A1080(28), European directive 79/115/EEC and BNOB (2013). Our training is accredited by CPION and certified to ISO 9001-2015 by DNV.
